Linking Documents

It is possible to automatically link one or more Therefore™ documents together. This is done by linking together two index data fields; when the values in the two fields are equal, a link is automatically created.

It is also possible to create manual links using Therefore™ end user applications.

Configuring Automatic Linking

  1. Open a category and select a field to use as a unique identifier to link different documents together. Right-click the field and select 'Properties'.

  2. In the 'Field Properties' dialog, open the 'Automatic Links' tab. Click 'Add Link', in the first column choose the direction for the link. Then, the category to link to. Finally, select the field in the target category to use as a link.

  3. After adding the links, save the category. Now, all existing and new documents sharing the same index data value on the selected field will be automatically linked. To see linked documents, right-click on a document in a hit-list in an end user application and select 'Show Linked Documents'.
