Sharing a document

Documents can be shared via a link directly from Therefore™ Navigator. Sharing works for both authenticated and external users.

Configuring a sharing link

  1. Accessing the context menu of the document that should be shared by right-clicking it or select the document and click 'Share' or select the 'Share' option in the Home tab of the ribbon menu.

  2. A dialog box that allows you to select who this document will be shared with is opened. The options are:

    • My Organization: anyone who has access to the Therefore™ Server

    • Specific people: name specific Therefore™ users who will gain access to this document

    • Anyone: the document does not require access to the Therefore™ Server to view

This window also allows setting RBAC permissions regarding the shared document, when the shared link expires, and if a password is needed to access the shared document.

Additionally, select whether to share the document in its original file format, or as a PDF.

  3. Once all the details are configured in the dialog box above, pressing 'OK' automatically copies the sharing link to the clipboard.

Right-click on a document and select 'Manage Sharing' to review previously shared links. This dialog allows users to copy, edit, or revoke shared links.

Accessing a shared link

  1. If a password was set, the user will be prompted to enter it when accessing the link. Authenticated users can then choose the Therefore™ application in which they wish to view the document.

Opening a shared link in Therefore™ Web Client opens the linked document in restricted mode. This means that document actions are available but it is not possible to navigate away from the document.

  2. For unauthenticated users, the document will be downloaded to their PC. Windows Explorer is opened automatically to let the user choose where to save the file.
