How to Trigger a Workflow
Each workflow in Therefore™ must be assigned to a category or case definition, but one category or case definition can be linked to multiple workflows. There are a number of options for starting a workflow:
Starting a workflow automatically for a new document or case
-
Access the properties dialog of a document or case by right-clicking them on the Therefore™ Solution Designer. Select the 'Workflow' tab.
-
All workflows assigned to the category or case definition will be listed. Select the workflow that should be started when a document is saved to this category from the drop downs and then press OK.
Additionally, it is possible to select a workflow to trigger automatically on a document update from this same dialog.
Starting a workflow manually
-
In the workflow process's properties window (accessed through the context menu displayed from right-clicking anywhere on the workflow), check the 'Can be started manually' checkbox.
-
It will then be possible for a user to start a workflow with the Therefore™ Navigator by selecting a document in a category associated with the workflow configured to start manually. Alternatively, in the Therefore™ Viewer, users can also start a workflow by using the button on the ribbon menu.
Note: Users need to have the required permissions to start workflows manually, please refer to the role-based access control reference for further details:

Starting a workflow with the Start Workflow task
The Start Workflow task allows a new workflow to be triggered. Any workflow defined for the same category as the one with the task can be started. For case categories, any workflow defined for the category or its case definition can be started.
