Users and Groups

It is possible to create users and groups directly in Therefore™ that are totally independent of Windows Active Directory or LDAP. However, existing Active Directory or LDAP users and groups, that are associated with Therefore™ (e.g. used in a workflow), will also be listed.

Creating a new user

  1. Right click the main Therefore™ node and go into the advanced settings. Under Security, 'Enable Mixed Security' must be set to True. If it was not already set to True, the Therefore™ Server Service and Solution Designer must be restarted.

  2. Under the Users and Groups tab on the Therefore™ Solution Designer, right-click Users and select 'New User'.

  3. In the User Properties dialog, enter a username and an e-mail address. By default the account is enabled and the user must change their password on their first login. The user can also be added or removed from groups at this stage.

  4. Pressing OK will prompt the Set Password dialog, set and confirm a password for the new user account.

  5. Once confirmed, the new user will not appear in the list of users.

Note:
  • New groups can be created in a similar way. Groups can also be added, for example, from Active Directory.

  • A user can be added to groups via the User Properties dialog.

  • New users/groups must have their permissions set to access folders, documents, etc. See our reference for more:

Configuring and customizing the e-mail text used for the 'Forgot Password' feature

Under the advanced settings tab of the Therefore™ main node, find 'Forgot password e-mail text" under the Security section. Clicking on the dialog option (...) will prompt the user with a window where the user may write a custom e-mail text a user would receive in the event of forgetting a password.
