New Device

Network Attached Storage (NAS) and Redundant Array of Inexpensive Disks (RAID) typically use standard hard drives. They should be configured to provide redundancy (e.g. RAID 1 - Mirroring). Below is a description of the elements in the dialog window when configuring an NAS or RAID device.

Set readonly flag after copying documents to this device (checkbox)
When using WORM (Write once; read many) devices such as NetApp storage for storing documents then in many implementations of WORM functionality setting this flag activates the WORM feature for the file.

This is a backup device (checkbox)
When this is checked the device is used as a backup storage device (as apposed to a primary storage device).
